We exploded it like Dynamite

You may not think it but copying from a just dance tutorial is harder then it looks.
Yesterday the whole school performed in a performing arts concert. But we weren’t just going to show up and do some dance nope, we are more PROFESSIONAL.
Our dance actually took a lot of work. The first thing we did was pick a song…
For a couple of weeks we couldn’t decide on a song because the girls wanted one song and the boys wanted another. In the end we decided to do a mash up of thunderstruck and lean on. We practiced that for a week but the moves weren’t really working, so the next week Mrs Coot, our performing arts teacher, asked us if we wanted to do a song called Dynamite. We all agreed to do Dynamite and we started practicing the next week.
We learnt our dance by copying a just dance tutorial. After a couple of weeks we decided as a class to have a trick circle. The first trick was Sophie and Charlize did a back bend walked and then kicked back onto their feel while Fintan did the worm in the middle. Sophie, Charlize and Mikaylah did the scorpion next Jarrod tricks with his soccer ball and finally… I DID A TRICK!
With my friends Amy, Madi and Amelia I did a Irish dance called the four hand reel.
Before the concert I felt nervous but when I got up on stage all my nerves went away.

Book for a buddy

For the last couple of weeks the year fives have been working on picture story books that we are going to give to our prep buddy’s next year. It took ages to write but I’m finished.
The first thing we had to do was think of an idea then we wrote a draft. After that we typed our story then we published our book and drew the pictures. My favorite thing we drawing pictures to match my story. Next time I will try and manage my time better because I had to do a lot of homework.
It was hard work but I’m finally finished.

You shoot me down but I won’t fall!

Resilience is staying strong and never giving up.
Today at assembly be performed a dance about resilience to the school. The song we used was called titanium. The song represents resilience because the chorus is ‘you shoot me down but I won’t fall’ and that’s what I had to do when I was learning how to ride a bike. I fell of but I crept on trying and eventually I could ride perfectly.

Cartwheels two blankets

I love reading picture story books, I’ve been reading a book about this girl named cartwheel, when the war came to her country she and her family had to move away to a new country. In the new country every thing was strange. From the old country she had brought a blanket, it reminded her of her old life. One day when cartwheel visited the park with her aunty there was a girl, she smiled and waved. Cartwheel was afraid to wave back. They want to the park three times before they saw the girl again. She smiled and waved, then went up to her and said something cartwheel couldn’t understand. Then the girl took her on the swings, she wanted to tell the girl that she was happy they were friends, but she couldn’t. When she went home she hid under her old blanket. The next time cartwheel went to the park the girl brought a word for cartwheel to learn, every day she would bring more words and every night cartwheel would whisper them to herself under her old blanket. Soon she became used to the new words. She felt like she was weaving a new blanket, to start off with her blanket was small but after time it became bigger. Now she knows that whatever blanket she uses she will always feel safe.

I think the theme is learning to fit in in new places and learn new things.
